Notary Reviews
by PamelaDisappointed in Notary ServicesI took off work early, so I could make it in time to use HFS' notary services. However, when I sat down with the actual notary, I was turned away, because she wanted the "original" POA paperwork, showing I was the POA for my parents. I had electronic copies of both on my phone and would have gladly come back with printed copies, but she insisted she couldn't notarize my trust paperwork without having the original POA paperwork.
I ended up leaving and hiring a private notary to sign off on the documents. I'd like to point out that in reviewing my POA paperwork, the document specifically stipulates that a copy has the same effect as the original.
It's disappointing to me that I was turned away unnecessarily, particularly since I specifically left work early to get the task completed. So, not only did I waste an hour of work leave, I also incurred fees for hiring the private notary that was able to properly assist me.
