Our 2025 Annual Fundraiser: A Community Coming Together
Nearly five decades ago, in 1976, Hawai’i Island Adult Care (HIAC) emerged from a simple yet profound recognition: East Hawai’i’s kūpuna needed dedicated adult daycare services. What began as a vital community resource through the Office of Aging has grown into something much greater—a cornerstone of compassionate care that honors our kūpuna while providing essential relief to their devoted caregivers.
Their Mission Today
HIAC has thoughtfully evolved to meet the changing needs of our island ‘ohana. Today, their mission centers on delivering exceptional adult daycare and caregiver services that empower aging in place—because they believe our kūpuna deserve to remain rooted in the homes and communities they’ve helped build.
HIAC creates more than just a safe environment; they foster an engaging, nurturing space where our kūpuna and adults requiring specialized care can thrive. Meanwhile, caregivers—often family members carrying the beautiful but demanding responsibility of care—find the respite they need to recharge and continue their own journeys.
Join Our Cause: The “Kūpuna in Need” Program
This year’s Annual Fundraiser spotlights our “Kūpuna in Need” program, a lifeline for Hawai’i Island families facing financial barriers to quality adult daycare services. Your support ensures that economic challenges never stand between our kūpuna and the dignified care they deserve.
Every contribution—no matter the size—directly enables families to access the high-quality services that make aging in place possible. Together, we’re preserving something precious: the ability for our kūpuna to remain connected to their roots, their communities, and their independence.
Show Your Support
As our way of saying mahalo, those who contribute $10 or more will receive a beautiful, custom Eden x HFS Bank bag*—a small token of our gratitude for standing with our kūpuna.
Ready to spread some aloha? Visit any HFS FCU branch from October 1 to 31 and be part of something truly amazing.
Please help us continue this legacy of care. Our kūpuna built this community—now it’s our turn to build their future.
