The need to rescue and rehome dogs across Hawai’i Island continues to increase, as well as the financial challenges of caring for the island’s loyal companions.
Aloha ‘Ilio Rescue (AIR), a 501(c)3 Nonprofit community dog rescue, is dedicated to rescuing dogs on the Big Island and providing the best quality of life for those in their care. They are also committed to finding good homes and good people who will welcome the dogs into their family. This year, HFS Federal Credit Union’s annual fundraiser supported this impressive organization.
Throughout October, monetary donations were collected at six branch locations. Thanks to the generosity and support of its members and individuals in the community, the amount collected was the highest in the credit union’s annual fundraising history.
“We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of our members in raising funds to assist Aloha ‘Ilio Rescue to carry out their mission. They play a vital role in providing necessary care for dogs in transition to their permanent homes. We’re honored that we were able to support their efforts.” Nathan N. Abe, President/CEO, HFS Federal Credit Union.
A check for $37,300 was presented to Aloha ‘Ilio Rescue’s President/Founder, Daylynn Kyles.
“I wanted to do something that made a difference to our island community and its animals. My motivation is to stop the overpopulation and euthanasia of homeless dogs. I want to bring awareness and education to our community and change the issues that have been overlooked for far too long. While dogs are in our care we promise to give them the best possible experience here, always treat them with compassion, insure a clean healthy space and daily exercise while making sure we always remember to serve our community with Aloha.” Daylynn Kyles, President/Founder, Aloha ‘Ilio Rescue.
